in march 2020, admist a global pandemic, The Board of Trustees at SUNY Followed the Recommendation by the SUNY Charter school institute and Voted to shut Down heketi.

It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that we reiterate that our school, Heketi Community Charter School, has been closed. We engaged in two appeals with the Charter School Institute at SUNY and then the Charter-School Committee of SUNY’s Board of Trustees. The final vote took place on March 10, 2020, which confirmed that Heketi’s charter will expire on July 31, 2020.
